What can I delegate?

Ah, to learn the art of delegation...what a priceless attribute this will become.

First, let me say anything  - - and I mean ANYTHING - - that you can delegate to an in-house assistant CAN be delegated to a virtual assistant. Yes, that's right.

Typically, the first challenge to this statement is, "Oh yeh, how can you do my filing"? It's simple. I've been handling the filing of one of my clients for years. Take notice this client is located in New York and I am located in Ohio. Every so often, I get a little package in the mail or by courier. It contains a variety of things from statements, correspondence, contracts, tax documents, cards, photos, etc. I simply scan everything and maintain an electronic file for easy access. I file the paper documents in corrugated filing boxes all properly and neatly labeled. Documents stay organized and I can send out any box  (or boxes) at any time it is needed.

So the next question you should ask is, "Why am I wasting precious time on things I can delegate"?

I will encourage you to get in the habit of not touching things that take you away from your focus each day. I’ll remind you to repeatedly ask yourself if the tasks at hand are tasks you *have* to do. If they are not, then THOSE are the tasks you should delegate.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not be stumble on the misconception that it's a waste of time to stop and ask someone to help since it requires time to pass it on. That may be true for the initial delegation of a task but the few minutes of time spent today ends up saving you tons of time each time the task has to be repeated. Invest a few minutes now to gain more time for yourself later.
